.DISCUSSION...
A Fire Weather Watch is in effect on Thursday for the eastern
combined Panhandles. ERC classes in the east rank in the 90th+
percentile due to our recent prolonged period of little to no
precipitation and hot temperatures. The main concern on Thursday is
for dry lightning fire starts, as any storms producing precipitation
will likely be constrained to a single precipitation core. Storms
could produce lightning well away from their precipitation core, in
areas where precipitation never crosses over, enhancing the risk for
fire starts as storms initiate through the afternoon/evening
tomorrow. Although winds throughout the day will not increase the
risk of fire spread,l and downbursts/outflow from any storms could
enhance any lightning starts, increasing intensity and causing them
to behave erratically.
