...LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM EST
THURSDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations
  of 6 to 12 inches in the most persistent snow bands. Winds gusting
  as high as 40 mph will lead to blowing and drifting snow and
  reduced visibility.

* WHERE...Northern Herkimer County.

* WHEN...Until 7 AM EST Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be difficult.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Periods of light snow are expected today
  through Tuesday night. A lake effect snow band will then lift
  northward into northern Herkimer County on Wednesday before
  tapering off Wednesday night.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally
heavy snow to dry weather just a few miles away. Visibilities can
also vary greatly. Be prepared for rapid changes in weather,
visibility, and road conditions.

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.

...LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM EST
WEDNESDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations
  of 6 to 12 inches in the most persistent snow bands. Winds gusting
  as high as 50 mph will lead to blowing and drifting snow and near
  whiteout conditions.

* WHERE...Southern Herkimer County.

* WHEN...Until 7 AM EST Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be difficult. The hazardous conditions
  could impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes. Gusty winds
  could bring down tree branches.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Lake effect snow bands to the north and just
  south of the New York Thruway this morning continue through today.
  These snow bands remain in place today before lifting further
  northward on Wednesday. Snowfall rates will reach 0.5 to 1 inch
  per hour at times.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally
heavy snow to dry weather just a few miles away. Visibilities can
also vary greatly. Be prepared for rapid changes in weather,

THURSDAY...

* WHAT...Lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations between
  3 and 7 inches. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph will lead to
  blowing and drifting snow and reduced visibility.

* WHERE...Hamilton County.

* WHEN...Until 7 AM EST Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous
  conditions could impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes.
  Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Lake effect snow bands continue to move
  through Hamilton county today through Wednesday night. Periods of
  light to moderate snowfall will occur in these snow bands. Between
  Wednesday night and Thursday morning, lake effect snow bands will
  move further westward and snow chances decrease.

* WHERE...Schoharie, Montgomery, and Fulton Counties.

* WHEN...Until 7 AM EST Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous
  conditions could impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes.
  Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Lake effect snow will set up near and just
  south of the New York Thruway and remain in place through Tuesday
  before lifting northward on Wednesday. Snowfall rates may reach
  0.5 inch per hour at times.
