...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT CENTRAL DUTCHESS COUNTY THROUGH
600 PM EDT...

At 525 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Pleasant Valley, or 9 miles northeast of Poughkeepsie, moving
northeast at 30 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and penny size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Salt Point, Freedom Plains, Oniontown, Lithgow, Millbrook, Hoxie
Corner, Millbrook Heights, Smithfield, South Amenia, Shunpike,
Timothy Heights, Bangall, Bains Corner, Amenia, Washington Hollow,
Mabbettsville, Verbank, Camby, Verbank Village, and Colonial Heights.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
