720 FXUS61 KALY 021825 AFDALY AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION National Weather Service Albany NY 225 PM EDT Sat Aug 2 2025 .SYNOPSIS... High pressure will remain in place across the region through at least the middle of next week, providing dry conditions along with generally comfortable humidity levels. After one more relatively cool night tonight, the air mass will warm Sunday into early next week, with temperatures warming back to above normal levels. && .DISCUSSION... As of 225 PM EDT, pleasant day continues with mostly sunny skies and comfortable temps/humidity levels. Another relatively cool night ahead tonight, though might be a bit warmer than the last 2 nights across the southern Adirondacks where a light breeze persists and PWAT`s increase a bit. Still expect lows in the 40s in the southern Adirondacks, and upper 40s to mid/upper 50s elsewhere. Some patchy fog will be possible once again later tonight, especially areas adjacent to rivers/creeks. Mostly sunny skies and a gradual warming trend occurs Sunday into Tuesday. A weak backdoor cold front could trigger an isolated shower/thunderstorm across some higher terrain areas of the southern Adirondacks and southern Greens/Berkshires Monday- Tuesday afternoons, however confidence is too low at this time to include in current forecast. Increasing mid level capping may prevent convection from occurring. Although forecast high temps reach 85-90 in some valley areas by Monday-Tuesday, dewpoints look to remain moderate, generally in the lower/mid 60s, keeping heat indices mainly below 90. A frontal system may bring an uptick in shower/thunderstorm chances for Thursday, though this is a low probability. Above normal temperatures look to continue through late next week, along with a gradual increase in humidity levels. && .AVIATION /19Z SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/... Through 18z Sunday...VFR conditions forecast across all terminals into tonight. Some light fog may develop at KGFL and KPSF around daybreak and linger until 12-13z and this is included in the TAFs. All sites VFR after 13Z Sunday. Winds should be northwest to north today at 5 to 10 kt. Winds become light and variable to calm overnight. On Sunday, light and variable winds under 10 kt are expected. Outlook... Sunday Night to Wednesday Night: No Operational Impact. NO SIG WX. Thursday: Low Operational Impact.
