...WIDESPREAD CONDITIONS OF BELOW ZERO TEMPERATURES TONIGHT
THROUGH TUESDAY AFTERNOON FOR THE LOWER KUSKOKWIM VALLEY AND
NORTHERN INTERIOR PORTIONS OF BRISTOL BAY...

An arctic low is quickly diving southward towards SW Alaska,
carrying cold and dry air behind as it moves towards the Gulf.
Temperatures will drop below zero tonight along the Lower
Kuskokwim Valley and northern interior portions of Bristol Bay,
as far south as Koliganek and Port Alsworth, with apparent
temperatures ranging from -20 to -30 degrees. Temperatures will
warm slightly during the day Monday before dropping further Monday
night. Lows could range from -5 to -15, with apparent
temperatures dropping as low as -35. Three of the main factors
that will determine how low temperatures get will be winds/gusts,
sky coverage, and the influence of the Bering ridge moving into
the area. There is still low confidence in how each of these
factors will influence the setup over SW Alaska. Please continue
to follow the forecast for additional updates as this system
progresses.
