Forecast is based on forecast start time of 1200 AKDT on July 21.
.DISCUSSION...

Satellite imagery this morning indicates the presence of a
widespread marine stratus cloud deck over the coastal waters north
and west of Unalaska. Based on satellite and nearby observations,
this cloud deck is likely 1,500 ft AGL or lower. There is high
confidence that this cloud deck will persist over the forecast
area through the day, but may rise to around 2,000 ft by late this
afternoon or early evening as a weak trough of low pressure moves
north of the area. Winds will be out of the south-southwest
through tonight, with the strongest winds and gusts expected this
morning through mid-afternoon before slowly diminishing in
intensity. Winds may shift more southwesterly and increase around
midnight. In consultation with the Alaska Aviation Weather Unit
(AAWU), no significant icing is expected. Freezing levels are
expected to remain steady, above 9,000 ft, and likely closer to
10,000 ft, through tonight. Although any widespread fog is
expected to remain north of the forecast area, especially with the
southerly winds, any fog/mist that does drift over the forecast
area could reduce visibility to around 1 to 2 SM at times. There
is higher confidence that visibilities stay between 4 and 6 SM.

For any additional icing/turbulence forecast information, please
contact AAWU at 907-266-5110.
