The National Weather Service in Anchorage has issued a Coastal Flood Warning, which is in effect from 2 PM Sunday to 10 PM AKDT Tuesday. The Coastal Flood Watch is no longer in effect. * LOCATION...Kuskokwim Delta coast. * COASTAL FLOODING...Water levels as high as 3 to 6 feet above normal highest tide are expected, with locally higher water levels possible. * TIMING...Water levels will rise by Sunday afternoon and remain elevated through Tuesday afternoon/evening. The timing of peak water levels will vary by community, but many will see their highest water levels from Monday afternoon through early Tuesday morning. * IMPACTS...This event could be similar to the August 17-18, 2024 flood event. Southwesterly to westerly winds will cause higher seas and surf, contributing to erosion and flooding along the coast. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A coastal flood warning means that flooding is occurring or imminent. The National Weather Service in Anchorage has issued a Coastal Flood Watch, which is in effect from Sunday afternoon through Tuesday evening. * LOCATION...Goodnews Bay and other communities west of Cape Newenham. * COASTAL FLOODING...Water levels as high as 3 to 6 feet above normal highest tide are possible. * TIMING...Water levels begin rising Sunday afternoon. While water levels will be elevated between Sunday afternoon and Tuesday evening, the worst conditions are expected from Monday night through Tuesday morning. * IMPACTS...Southwesterly to westerly winds may cause higher seas and surf, contributing to erosion and flooding along the coast. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A coastal flood watch means that conditions favorable for flooding are expected to develop.
