Marine weather observations across the lower Chesapeake Bay and James River are reporting occasional southerly wind gusts between 20 and 25 knots this evening. These gusty winds may persist for the next few hours, before tapering off some around midnight. However, a period of more widespread elevated winds are likely later Saturday morning along and behind a cold front and a Small Craft Advisory goes into effect starting at 7 AM Saturday morning. Boaters, especially those in small crafts, should utilize caution if on the water this evening and be alert for sudden higher gusts and waves. $$
