...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EDT THIS EVENING
FOR JAMES CITY AND YORK COUNTIES AND THE NORTHERN CITY OF NEWPORT
NEWS...

At 558 PM EDT, the public reported reported ongoing flooding at the
intersection of Jefferson Ave and Yorktown Rd. Between 3 and 4
inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2
inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or
expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Public reported.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
         highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
         drainage and low-lying areas.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Newport News, Williamsburg, Virginia Institute For Marine
  Sciences, Gloucester Point, Grove, Lee Hall, Busch Gardens, Carver
  Gardens, York Terrace, U.s. Naval Weapons, Lackey, Water Country
  U.S.A., Newport News Golf Course and Yorktown.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
