URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...INCOMING LOW BRINGING PROLONGED SNOWFALL TO THE KLONDIKE
HIGHWAY...

.A low pressure system continues to work northward into the Gulf
of Alaska this evening. Updated forecast guidance continues to
show a track farther to the east bringing more moisture into the
panhandle allowing for a greater potential for snow with the
southwesterly winds near ridgetops.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON AKST TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Wet snow. Additional snow accumulations of 4 to 6 inches
  west of MP 24 toward the border.

* WHERE...Haines Highway near Haines Customs.

* WHEN...Until noon AKST Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snowfall rates are expected to continue
  to increase as the next front moves closer to the panhandle.
  The heaviest rates are expected late this evening through the
  overnight hours into tomorrow before snowfall rates slow
  midday tomorrow.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Slow down and use caution while traveling.

People are urged to prepare their property before the onset of
winter weather.
