URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...LONG DURATION SNOW EVENT FOR PORTIONS OF THE PANHANDLE...

.Low pressure will move into the NE Gulf of Alaska from the
Bering Sea on Monday then remain relatively stationary through
Tuesday. Moisture will clash with established stable, dry air to
produce consistent snow for portions of the northern Panhandle.
Less moisture is now expected with this upcoming system, leading
to statements being downgraded, however long duration snowfall
will cause accumulations to occur, particularly in the Juneau
area.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM TO 6 PM
AKST MONDAY...

* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations around 4 inches.

* WHERE...City and Borough of Yakutat.

* WHEN...From 6 AM to 6 PM AKST Monday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be difficult.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Expect heaviest rates for a short duration
  Monday afternoon. Precipitation will continue beyond 6 PM
  Monday, but warmer conditions are expected to be unfavorable for
  snow accumulation.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Slow down and use caution while traveling.

People are urged to prepare their property before the onset of
winter weather.

3 AM AKST WEDNESDAY...

* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 8 to 14
  inches.

* WHERE...City and Borough of Juneau.

* WHEN...From 6 PM Monday to 3 AM AKST Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be difficult. The hazardous conditions
  could impact the morning and evening commute on Tuesday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow characteristic will begin as dry and
  fluffy and will increase in moisture over time. Expect snow
  rates to remain consistent throughout the event with around 4
  inches falling over 12 hour periods. There is potential for
  snow to last longer into Wednesday.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Slow down and use caution while traveling.
