...POTENTIAL FOR FIRST SNOW INTO FRIDAY...

The potential for our first snowflakes of the fall is looking
more likely as snow continues to be reported Thursday afternoon
in Haines and Skagway. Cold air from Canada continues to move down
Lynn Canal Thursday night. This cold air is not limited to the
surface as sites at elevation are reporting temperatures below
freezing. As the cold air continues to work farther down Lynn
Canal to the Icy Strait corridor reports of snow or mixed rain and
snow in Gustavus and north of Juneau Thursday evening. The
potential for snow or mixed rain and snow will persist into early
Friday. Some areas could potentially see a dusting to light
accumulations of snow during periods of heavier rates that could
overwhelm the warm ground temperatures allowing for accumulations
to occur.

Stay tuned for any updates for the potential for snow overnight at
our website weather.gov/Juneau.
