...POTENTIAL FOR VERY STRONG LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM FRIDAY...

After a fall front brings gusty winds and a period of heavy rain
on Wednesday another stronger system will start to take shape. A
deepening low pressure is expected to track into the eastern Gulf
of Alaska from the south on Friday. There is growing confidence
that this system will have very strong winds with high wind gusts,
however there are differences in storm track.

Operational models have a wide range of storm tracks varying from
moving inland near Cross Sound to near Sumner Strait. Areas that
models currently agree on are: the timing of peak winds to be
on Friday and for the system to be a tightly packed, quick
moving, closed low.

Greatest risk for high winds at this time is along the outer
coast between Elfin Cove and Hydaburg, however as the system
tracks inland other locations may be affected as well,
particularly by a wind shift to the W-SW behind the low.

With an already saturated ground, tree fall and power outages are
possible even with wind speeds below the watch/warning criteria
of 60 mph.
