.DISCUSSION...
The lat/long used is for near Snow Passage, but the forecast is
valid for all of Northern Clarence Strait. A weak low pressure
system is moving northeastward into the panhandle through Friday
morning. The associated frontal band is mainly expected to impact
the northern and central panhandle, though periods of light rain
will be possible in the southern panhandle through Friday evening.
Anticipating west to southwesterly 5 to 10 kt winds to increase
through Sumner Strait before turning northwesterly and flowing
down Clarence Strait. Interior passes along the eastern side of
Prince of Wales Island may contribute some west to southwesterly
winds funneling out of the passages, but the main wind pattern
will be around 10 kt northwesterly winds flowing down Clarence
Strait and increasing into Dixon Entrance. 1 to 2 ft wave heights
are expected Friday, with the higher heights closer to Dixon
Entrance. Winds will shift southeasterly Saturday afternoon as the
remnants of the low dips south.
