.Recent precipitation overnight from residual onshore flow has
elevated river and lake levels on Montana Creek and Auke Bay
respectively. Convective training showers over the Auke Lake area
and the Montana Creek basin currently occurring are expected to
continue for the next few hours, causing a sharp increase in Montana
Creek and Auke Lake. At this time, the Montana Creek basin, based on
the Montana Creek gauge, is experience rain rates around 0.2 inches
per hour, with the gauge hitting a 2 year return interval in the
last 3 hours.

...FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM AKDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE...Near Auke Lake and Montana Creek near areas near the low
  water crossing on Montana Creek Road and near Back Loop Road at
  the Montana Creek bridge.

* WHEN...Until 1000 PM AKDT Sunday.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 1149 AM AKDT, river gauge reports indicate rises in water
    levels from heavy rain across the advisory area. Minor
    flooding is expected to begin shortly, especially near
    Montana Creek and Auke Lake. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain
    have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.75 to 2 inches
    are possible.

  - For Auke Lake near Auke Bay:
    At 10:00am the stage was 32.0 feet.
    Flood Stage is 33.0 feet.

    Impacts:
    At 32.0 feet: This is bankful conditions along Auke Lake.

    At 33.0 feet: Water from the lake will inundate yards of
    homes along Auke Lake.

  - For Montana Creek at Back Loop Bridge:
    At 11:30am the stage was 14.4 feet.
    Flood Stage is 14.5 feet.
    Forecast: A crest around 15.25 feet is expected around 4:00pm
    Sunday.
    Water levels will go above minor flood stage around noon
    Sunday.

    Impacts:
    At 14.5 feet: Water begins flowing over the low water
    crossing on Montana Creek Road. Bankfull conditions at the
    gauge with water starting to inundate adjacent undeveloped
    fields along Mendenhall Loop Road.

    At 15.5 feet: Up to one half foot of water will flow over the
    low water crossing on Montana Creek Road after the community
    gardens. Water will approach and begin to inundate yards of
    residences along the Northwest side of Mendenhall Loop Road.
