.DISCUSSION...Northwesterly winds may become a bit gusty during the day
on Wednesday into the evening hours, gusting up to around 25 mph,
due to a tightened gradient between higher pressure to the
northwest & lower pressure to the southeast & further support
aloft to help drive those wind gusts to the surface. Winds should
generally remain around 10 mph or less through the rest of the
forecast period as the gradient becomes appreciably more relaxed.
Rain shower chances remain on the lower side with Chances for
Wetting Rains of 0.1" or greater remaining close to 0% through the
forecast period as the Upper Tanana Valley region will generally
stay under more of a ridging pattern. Most of the precipitation
that will be aimed toward the Upper Tanana Valley area coming from
a generally southwesterly direction from trough & warm frontal
features will be generally shadowed by the Alaska Range, keeping
the Tok area mainly dry. High temperatures on Wednesday will
struggle to reach 50 degrees, & Minimum Relative Humidity values
will be around 50%, both due to northwesterly flow & increased
cloud cover caused by some troughing. Clouds will decrease on
Thursday & winds will become more southerly, which will allow
temperatures to climb to around 60 & Minimum Relative Humidity
values to drop to around 35-40%. For Friday through the weekend,
slight chance to chance rain showers remain, Chances of Wetting
Rain stay near zero with high temperatures reaching the middle-to-
upper 60s, Minimum Relative Humidity values increase to the 45-55%
range, & light winds continue. Thunderstorm chances remain near
0% through the forecast period.
