.DISCUSSION...
An upper level ridge of high pressure is expected to hover over most
of the region through Wednesday afternoon, allowing min RH values to
reside in the 30% to 40% range and high temps to reside in the upper
60s to 70s range. Light southerly flow prevails ahead of an
approaching front, except for gap winds through the Alaska Range
passes. Relatively stronger winds may occur through Isabel Pass
through Wednesday morning reaching up to around 15 mph sustained and
gusts around 25 mph. Over the Upper Tanana Valley, south/southeast
winds around 5 mph will become light and variable going into
Wednesday night. Low pressure drags a frontal boundary east
Wednesday and Thursday with increasing RH and cooler conditions
expected behind the front. Light generally west winds are expected
behind the front, except for the Upper Tanana Valley where NW winds
up the valley could gust up to 30 mph late Thursday night into
Friday. Rain chances also increase behind the front with a good
chance for wetting rains across the west-central interior Wednesday
night and Thursday before reaching the eastern interior on Friday
and Saturday. The Yukon Flats have the lowest chances for wetting
rains.
