.DISCUSSION...
High pressure continues to build over the Interior, allowing for
a warming and drying trend to settle in this weekend. Expect high
temperatures in the mid to upper 70s and low 80s, with Sunday
being the hottest. Min RH values will remain in the mid 20s to mid
30s. Thankfully, winds remain mainly light and out of the
west/southwest. Low level instability will be gradually increasing
over the next several days. This abundance of instability will
allow for isolated thunderstorm clusters to appear across the
southwest Interior this afternoon. Thunderstorm chances will then
move northeast across the White Mountains and Brooks Range into
the Yukon Flats region Sunday/Monday. PWAT values steadily
increase throughout the weekend, making wetting rain chances
increasingly more likely as well. Looking ahead, model consensus
has the western Interior getting an influx of moist southwest flow
that will temporarily push the high pressure east over the
Canadian Yukon. This will allow for increased showers and wet
thunderstorm chances across the central and eastern Interior
Monday into Wednesday. We currently expect scattered thunderstorm
activity to persist over the White Mountains through Monday. There
is high uncertainty in the extended time frame, but right now it
looks like ridging may try to build back in by midweek, promoting
warm and drier weather once again.
