.DISCUSSION...
Key Messages...
- Warm and dry conditions continue going into the weekend with
widespread afternoon highs in the upper 70s/low 80s. A brief
period of cooler temperatures is expected as isolated to
scattered showers develop Friday afternoon.
- Expect isolated thunderstorms Thursday afternoon from the Upper
Koyukuk Valley north towards the Central Brooks Range. On Friday
afternoon, coverage shifts over the Central/Eastern Brooks
Range south across higher terrain to the Western Alaska Range.
Saturday, isolated thunderstorms are expected to develop in the
Southern Interior.
- Thursday, min RHs range between 30-40% across most of the
Interior, with 25-30% RHs across the Tanana Valley. RH will
improve slightly Friday and Saturday where there are showers,
but many areas will likely remain dry.
- Details are coming into better agreement with regards to strong
southerly chinook/gap winds in the Alaska Range ramping up
Sunday and Monday. Peak wind gusts up to 50 mph through passes
are looking probable Sunday night into Monday.
