.DISCUSSION...
Fire weather concerns continue to ramp up through the week as a
broad high pressure sets up across the state. Hot, dry, and windy,
with peak fire weather conditions impacting the area by
Wednesday. By-and-large, temperatures will reach into the low to
mid 80s, with minimum RH values near 20%. Northeast wind also
becomes more concerning with sustained winds near 10 to 15 mph and
gusts reaching 15 to 25 mph. Locally higher winds are expected in
gaps/channels through mountains and hills. RH recovery looks to
worsen later in the week as drier air is pushed into the interior.
Today widely scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop from
the Alcan border east of Chalkyitsik to Eagle and Chicken.
Isolated thunderstorms are expected in the higher terrain of the
Fortymile Country and West to the White Mountains. We could see a
thunderstorm develop around circle as Uplsoping processes begin.
Wednesday widely scattered thunderstorms are expected in the upper
Tanana Valley with isolated chances along the northern slopes of
the Alaska Range.
