.DISCUSSION...
An upper-level low currently tracks south along the West Coast
and is expected to cross over the western side of the Alaska
Range, then shift slightly to the east as it approaches the gulf.
This setup allows for multiple shortwaves to rotate around the low
and bring a slight chance of thunderstorms today, and a fair
chance of wetting rain across the Interior through the weekend.
Chances of thunderstorms in the early afternoon, today, will
remain west and north of Ft. Yukon. During the evening and
overnight hours, thunderstorm chances will shift southeast between
Eagle, Tok, and Northway. Today`s best chance for wetting rain
are across the Interior, except for areas north of the Alaska
Range to Fairbanks. Tomorrow, the best chances for wetting rain
will be north and east of Fairbanks. High temperatures will
continue to remain seasonably cooler around 60 degrees over the
next few days, with a majority of the area warming to the mid to
upper 60s by Tuesday afternoon. heavier wind gusts up to 30 mph,
are expected to continue through this afternoon for areas near
Fortymile Country.
