.DISCUSSION...
Cooler weather today as troughing grows over the state following
a ridge that has now been pushed off to the east. Widespread and
numerous showers continue to creep in from the west this afternoon
to the central Interior, reaching the eastern Interior starting
Saturday night. These showers are likely to bring wetting rains to
much of the region, keeping min RH values mostly above 50%,
except for the Upper Tanana Valley where rain chances remain low
until Sunday. Isolated thunderstorms are possible in the
central/eastern Interior Saturday afternoon and continue to shift
eastward in to mainly the eastern Interior by Sunday afternoon.
Thunderstorms are not expected going into Monday. Temperatures
will cool in the upper 50s/low 60s through the weekend, with a
brief period of warming Tuesday and Wednesday before another
cooling trend sets in. Winds will be mainly out of the southeast
before shifting towards the southwest Saturday afternoon. Winds
speeds will be light for most of the period, but are expected to
strengthen going into Sunday ahead of the pattern shift.
