.DISCUSSION...
High pressure developing over the Interior brings a warming and
drying trend this weekend. Expect high temperatures in the 70s and
lower 80s with Sunday being the hottest. Min RHs will fall into
the mid 20s to mid 30s. Fortunately, winds remain light. Low level
instability will gradually increase the next several days.
Convective plumes will be possible again by Sunday on large,
active wildfires. Saturday, isolated storms will be possible
across southwest Alaska. With the increasing instability, isolated
storms will also be possible over the White Mountains and Brooks
Range on Sunday. Model consensus for Monday is to generate a moist
southwest flow off the Aleutians temporarily pushing the high
pressure ridge east over the Canadian Yukon. This will increase
showers and wet thunderstorm activity for most of the central and
eastern Interior Monday into Wednesday. We will have to monitor
for scattered lightning on those days. There is high uncertainty
in the extended timeframe, but ridging may try to build back in by
midweek promoting warm and drier weather once again.
