.DISCUSSION...High pressure building from the north will bring a warm, dry, and
sunny weekend to most of Interior Alaska with breezy northeast winds
continuing through Saturday. Weak shortwaves rotating around a low
pressure system that has moved into the Gulf of Alaska will bring
isolated thunderstorms to the Upper Tanana Valley and Fortymile
Country on Saturday and near the Alaska Range on Sunday.Sunday also
looks to be the driest day with RH readings dipping into the 25-30%
range likely across the Yukon Flats. By late Sunday evening, a front
will arrive from the west, bringing increasing clouds and scattered
showers. It will take until late Monday for this front to reach the
eastern Interior, though southwest flow advecting in more moisture
should bring more in the way of shower activity by the time it
arrives in the eastern Interior. Southwest winds will be breezy
behind the front on Monday and Tuesday. A number of additional weak
fronts associated with a trough dropping south from the arctic will
keep conditions cool and showery through midweek. A ridge of high
pressure looks to build back in Thursday through next weekend,
bringing warm temperatures and drier conditions.
