.DISCUSSION...Temps remain seasonably warm in the 60s to near 70 in Interior
Valleys each afternoon through Sunday. Showers and storms are
expected across much of the area, especially this weekend. Any
shower or storm can be accompanied by erratic wind gusts to 30 mph
or greater as well as heavy rain. Minimum RH values will rise
into the weekend, with upper 20s and 30s today and Sunday.
Overnight RH recovery will be great, with most areas around
70-90%.
Widely scattered thunderstorms will have wider coverage then
previously forecasted. We should expect them to be in the
Fairbanks area, Upper Tanana Valley, Forty-Mile, and the White
Mountains. Most storms will develop in the higher terrain, and
then storms will develop in the valleys from the gust fronts.
Sunday will have a similar coverage of thunderstorms, but with the
inclusion of Tanana and Lake Minchumina. These thunderstorms will
be slow moving, so any storm has potential to bring heavy
rainfall with significant wetting rain.
