...HYDROLOGIC OUTLOOK IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE FRIDAY NIGHT FOR
POTENTIAL FLOODING...

Yukon Delta

As of Thursday evening, an Ice Jam near Russian Mission continues to
back up water from Russian Mission to Anvik. When the ice jam
eventually releases this water will flow towards the Yukon Delta.
Most large Yukon River ice jams during recent years decay, erode and
fail within a few days. The current jam at Russian Mission has been
in place for over 4 days. Water levels are expected to quickly rise
as the backwater makes its way downriver impacting communities like
Emmonak, Alakanuk, Nunam Iqua, and Kotlik.
