.FORECAST ANALYSIS AND DISCUSSION...
A low pressure system over the southwest Interior is moving south
into the Gulf of Alaska. Scattered rain and isolated thunderstorms
are occurring from the White Mountains southward this evening. As
that low drops south...gusty northeasterly winds have developed
across the Yukon Flats...White Mountains...and the higher terrain
of Fortymile Country. Up north...an Arctic front is moving down
from the Beaufort Sea and will spread rain along the Arctic Coast
tonight. Northeasterly winds have decreased a little but will
continue along the Arctic Coast.

Saturday and Sunday weak high pressure develops over the Interior.
Warmer and drier conditions will occur under clearer skies.
Temperatures will warm back up into the 70s. Gusty northeasterly
winds will continue Saturday across the Yukon Flats...White
Mountains...and the higher terrain of Fortymile Country. Isolated
showers and thunderstorms are possible Saturday over the eastern
Alaska Range and Fortymile Country. Late Sunday the next storm
system begins to move into northwest Alaska. Scattered showers
and isolated thunderstorms will be possible.

.FIRE WEATHER...
A storm system over the southwest Interior is moving south into
the Gulf of Alaska. Scattered rain and isolated thunderstorms are
occurring from the White Mountains southward this evening. Gusty
northeasterly winds will continue into Saturday across the Yukon
Flats...White Mountains...the higher terrain of the Fortymile
Country...and along the Arctic Coast. High pressure develops this
weekend with warmer and drier conditions. Temperatures will warm
back up into the 70s and humidities will decrease. Minimum
humidities will drop into the 30s by Sunday in areas that have
not received much rain the past couple days. RHs will stay above
40% elsewhere. Another storm system moves into northwest Alaska
late Sunday. More clouds and rain will spread across northern and
central Alaska Monday and Tuesday.

&&

.HYDROLOGY...
No concerns at this time.

&&

.EXTENDED FORECAST DAYS 4-7...
A low pressure system moves across the Chuckchi Sea late Sunday
and remains positioned over the Arctic Coast through Wednesday.
That storm will rotate shortwave energy down through northern and
central Alaska. Thunderstorms will be most likely along the
initial shortwave trough as it tracks east across the state on
Monday. Behind that the next shortwave is more likely to generate
widespread stratiform precipitation along a slow moving Arctic
frontal boundary Tuesday into Wednesday. Occasional rain and
isolated thunderstorms are likely the result early next week. High
temperatures will also cool back down into the 60s Tuesday and
Wednesday. Beyond that there is too much uncertainty in the
models. A weak ridge of high pressure with some warming and drying
next Thursday and Friday seems to be the best approach for now.

Coastal Hazard Potential Days 3 and 4...None
