ANALYSIS CONFIDENCE...High. SYNOPSIS...A low will move east along the eastern Aleutian Islands and Alaska Peninsula on Tuesday, then north over the eastern Bering Sea on Wednesday before dissipating. Another weaker low will move east across the southern Bering Sea Friday through Saturday. High pressure will persist across the high Arctic through Saturday. -BEAUFORT SEA- PKZ505-Central US Arctic Offshore- PKZ510-Eastern US Arctic Offshore- PKZ813-Point Franklin to Cape Halkett out to 15 nm- PKZ814-Cape Halkett to Flaxman Island out to 15 nm- PKZ815-Flaxman Island to Demarcation Point out to 15 nm- PKZ859-Point Franklin to Cape Halkett from 15 to 75 nm- PKZ860-Cape Halkett to Flaxman Island from 15 to 80 nm- PKZ861-Flaxman Island to Demarcation Point from 15 to 75 nm- Ice covered. The ice edge is open water. From land-based points in Alaska, the main ice edge extends from near Cape Newenham to 42 nm northeast of Saint Paul to 38 nm northwest of Saint Paul to 250 nm southwest of Gambell and continues into Russian waters. The ice edge is open water. FORECAST FOR THE BERING SEA (DAYS 1 through 5)...Forecast confidence is high. Northerly winds will become northwesterly by Thursday across the ice pack. As the next low moves east across the Aleutian Islands, winds will become southerly to southeasterly over the ice pack. Sea ice will drift south 20 to 25 nm per day through Wednesday, then will slow to 5 to 10 nm as winds weaken toward the end of the week. Sea ice will likely reach St. Paul Island briefly on Tuesday or Wednesday, and may linger there through the forecast period. && Schreck
