SYNOPSISWidespread low pressure will give way to a high pressure
ridge in the Bering Sea by Friday. High pressure will then spread
northeastward across the Beaufort Sea, Alaska mainland, and Gulf of
Alaska by Monday.

FORECAST FOR THE BEAUFORT SEA (DAYS 1 through 5)...Forecast
confidence is high. Easterly winds will persist through Saturday and
then become variable for Sunday and Monday as high pressure builds
over the area. Sea ice will drift to the west through Saturday, and
some shorefast ice may break off through the forecast period.

The main ice edge extends from near Wales to 67 4N 167 41W to 66
48N 165 1W to 68 28N 168 27W to 69 13N 169 49W and continues
into Russian waters. The ice edge is open water.


From land-based points in Alaska, the main ice edge extends from
near Wales to 87 nm north of Wales to 35 nm northeast of Shishmaref
to 32 nm west of Point Hope to 80 nm northwest of Point Hope and
continues into Russian waters. The ice edge is open water.


FORECAST FOR THE CHUKCHI SEA (DAYS 1 through 5)...Forecast
confidence is high. Northerly winds will persist through Friday and
then shift southerly Saturday through Monday. As northerly winds
strengthen today (Wednesday), expect compaction of the sea ice west
of Point Hope/Cape Lisburne. Overall, sea ice will continue to
gradually melt.


-BERING SEA-


PKZ817-North side of Saint Lawrence Island out to 15 nm-


There is a small area of sea ice remaining just north of Saint
Lawrence Island east of Savoonga.


FORECAST FOR THE BERING SEA (DAYS 1 through 5)...Forecast confidence
is high. Over the remaining sea ice, winds will be northerly through
Thursday and then westerly to southwesterly from Friday through
Monday. Sea ice will continue to melt and is expected to melt
completely by Saturday.
