A low will move northeast to the Chukchi Sea Sunday and Monday. -BEAUFORT SEA- PKZ505-Central US Arctic Offshore- PKZ510-Eastern US Arctic Offshore- Ice covered. PKZ813-Point Franklin to Cape Halkett out to 15 nm- PKZ814-Cape Halkett to Flaxman Island out to 15 nm- PKZ815-Flaxman Island to Demarcation Point out to 15 nm- PKZ859-Point Franklin to Cape Halkett from 15 to 75 nm- PKZ860-Cape Halkett to Flaxman Island from 15 to 80 nm- PKZ861-Flaxman Island to Demarcation Point from 15 to 75 nm- FORECAST FOR THE BEAUFORT SEA (DAYS 1 through 5)...Forecast confidence is high. Off the north coast of Alaska, winds will be easterly Thursday, becoming northerly Friday. Winds will return to easterly late Saturday, persisting through Monday. Sea ice will continue to gradually melt, and the sea ice within the marginal ice zone near the coast will generally move west Thursday, south Friday and Saturday, and west Sunday and Monday. -CHUKCHI SEA- PKZ500-Western US Arctic Offshore- PKZ505-Central US Arctic Offshore- PKZ813-Point Franklin to Cape Halkett out to 15 nm- PKZ859-Point Franklin to Cape Halkett from 15 to 75 nm- Ice covered. PKZ812-Cape Beaufort to Point Franklin out to 15 nm- PKZ857-Cape Thompson to Cape Beaufort from 15 to 85 nm- PKZ858-Cape Beaufort to Point Franklin from 15 to 85 nm- The main ice edge extends from near Utqiagvik to 71 1N 165 57W to 69 41N 168 8W to 69 56N 172 9W and continues into Russian waters. The ice edge is open water. From land-based points in Alaska, the main ice edge extends from near Utqiagvik to 175 nm west of Utqiagvik to 60 nm northwest of Cape Lisburne to 135 nm northwest of Cape Lisburne and continues into Russian waters. The ice edge is open water. FORECAST FOR THE CHUKCHI SEA (DAYS 1 through 5)...Forecast confidence is high. Northeasterly to easterly winds will persist through Saturday, then winds will become southerly Sunday through Monday as the low approaches from the southwest. Expect the ice edge to continue to slowly retreat as sea ice melts along the ice edge and for the pack ice to continue breaking up and melting. && Schreck
