Hydrologic Concerns: * High water flowing down the Kuskokwim River, in combination with storm surge pushing up the up river, could cause water levels to rise between bankfull and minor flood stage. * The highest water levels would occur if the downstream high water flow, storm surge, and high tide all occurred simultaneously. Potential Impacts: * More likely scenario: Bankfull conditions with no flooding expected. * Worst case scenario: Nuisance flooding in low-lying areas. Locations: * Along Kuskokwim River, from Bethel south to Napakiak. * Along Johnson River, from Nunapitchuk and Kasigluk south to the Kuskokwim River. Timing: * Highest water levels will likely occur around high tide on Friday, from about 11 AM through 4 PM. * Strongest winds (south to southwesterly, gusting up to 30 to 45 mph) from about 4 PM Thursday through 4 PM Friday. Next Steps: * Monitor the forecast for updates. * Be prepared to take action in case of minor flooding. $$
