...STRONG AND GUSTY WINDS TONIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY AFTERNOON FOR
KACHEMAK BAY AND COASTAL COMMUNITIES...

Strong southeasterly winds will develop across Kachemak Bay,
late this evening and continue through Friday afternoon as a
strong frontal system approaches the region. Winds will be focused
through the southern gaps of Kachemak Bay, including Seldovia and
Jakolof Bay.

For Seldovia and Jakolof Bay, expect sustained winds of 30 to 40
mph with gusts 50 to 60 mph. Strongest winds and gusts associated
with this system are expected between 7 am AKDT and 1 pm AKDT.
Winds are expected to diminish quickly after 3 pm AKDT Friday.
Gusts in Homer may reach up to 45 mph during periods of strong
winds.

Sustained winds over Kachemak Bay are expected to approach 40 mph,
with gusts near 50 mph with stronger winds closer to the southern
gaps. Waves in Kachemak Bay will be highest in the outer bay, with
waves potentially reaching as high as 6 to 8 ft. Waves closer to
the Spit will be smaller, reaching around 3 to 5 ft.

Strong winds may move loose debris, damage property, and cause
power outages. Travel may be difficult, especially for high
profile vehicles.
