Spot Forecast for Nelchina Glacier Fire...SOA DOF
National Weather Service Anchorage AK
737 PM AKDT Mon Jun 30 2025

Forecast is based on forecast start time of 1900 AKDT on June 30.
.DISCUSSION...

A warming, clearing and drying trend is expected to get underway
on Tuesday as a high pressure ridge begins to build into the
Talkeetnas and Copper River Basin from the north. Winds will stay
fairly light during the morning, but southerly gusts as strong as
20 mph or so will be possible off of the glacier during the
afternoon.

For Wednesday, the warming and drying trend will continue as high
temperatures continue to trend up a few more degrees as minimum
afternoon RH values also dip lower compared to Tuesday. Winds
could gust up again out of the south during the afternoon hours
given the continued tight pressure gradient along the Gulf
Coast. There will be a slight chance for a stray wet thunderstorm
to move near the fire site during the late afternoon and evening,
but most thunderstorm activity will likely stay farther to the
north.
