Spot Forecast for USCG SAR...AIRSTA Kodiak
National Weather Service Anchorage AK
825 AM AKST Sun Feb 9 2025

Forecast is based on forecast start time of 0800 AKST on February 09.
.DISCUSSION...

An upper level ridge will begin to shift east today as a system in the
North Pacific lifts north towards the AKPEN. This system will bring an
increase chance for some light precipitation to the eastern Kenai
Peninsula this afternoon through Monday. Higher chances will remain across
the southern end of the Peninsula with chances decrease further north and
east towards Prince William Sound. With a 2500 ft ceiling in place over much
of the Sound, could see some on-again-off-again precipitation for the Passage
Canal and Blackstone Bay areas. Temperatures below 500 ft should remain in the
lower 30s today and tomorrow, possibly dropping into the upper 20s overnight.
This will result in precipitation type as light rain/sprinkles or a light
rain/snow mix below approximately 500 ft and light snow or flurries at higher
elevations above 500 ft. Ceilings look to remain in the 1500-2500 ft range through
