.DISCUSSION...

A ridge of high pressure moving over Southcentral will keep
relatively quiet and conditions in place near the glacier until a
stronger frontal system approaches from the west towards the
latter half of the day on Friday. Some passing clouds near a warm
front lifting north across the Chugach Mountains could initially
limit ceilings to around 2500 ft above the glacier elevation for
Thursday morning, but expect marked improvement by the afternoon
as any lower clouds scatter out. Winds will shift from northerly
early in the day to southwesterly by the early afternoon behind
the frontal passage.

Little change in conditions is expected beyond Thursday afternoon,
until the stronger frontal system begins to approach the western
portions of Southcentral late in the day on Friday. Expect both an
increase in overall cloud cover and a decrease in ceilings as the
day progresses on Friday, perhaps dipping to as low as the
mountaintop/glacier height by the late afternoon and evening
hours. Visibility at higher elevations (around 4000 ft or above)
could begin to dip to 3 to 5 miles or less by late Friday
afternoon if clouds manage to lower all the way down to the
glacier and nearby mountain ridges/peaks. Winds will also become
more southerly, then gusty and southeasterly by Friday evening.
