Forecast is based on forecast start time of 0900 AKDT on April 15.
.DISCUSSION...

A strong low pressure system currently just south of Dutch Harbor,
AK will move north today, approaching the Alaska Peninsula by
this evening. The frontal boundary associated with this system will
approach Kodiak by this evening. Winds will steadily increase as the
front moves over Kodiak, reaching peak intensity with gale force
winds this evening. The storm will slowly lift into Bristol Bay
on Thursday before moving inland or into the Barren Island on
Friday. During the Wednesday to Thursday timeframe southeast winds
around 15 knots are expected to persist, but periods of higher
winds of 20 to 25 kt are possible with disturbances moving through
the flow. Looking ahead into the weekend, the weather appears to
be quieter, with light and variable winds less than 10 kts.

.REST OF TODAY...

Surface winds (kt). South winds 5 to 9 kt increasing to southeast
                    15 to 25 kt with gusts to around 35 kt between
3 and 6 PM in the afternoon.

.TONIGHT...

Surface winds (kt). Breezy. Southeast winds 20 to 30 kt. Gusts up
                    to 42 kt between 9 PM and midnight.

.WEDNESDAY...

Surface winds (kt). Southeast winds of 15 to 25 kt with gusts of
25 to 35 kt in the morning decreasing to
southerly winds of 12 to 15 kt with gusts to
25 kt through the afternoon.
