Widespread rain showers and weak thunderstorms move into the area
early this morning, continuing into the afternoon. The heaviest
precipitation is expected after sunrise over parts of eastern South
Dakota and western Minnesota, where some areas may see upwards of an
inch of precipitation through this evening. Elsewhere, expect around
half an inch of rain in total.

A cold front will pass through the listening area this afternoon
through evening. Out ahead of the front this morning, parts of
northeastern South Dakota and western Minnesota will see wind gusts
as high as 35 to 40 miles per hour coming out of the south. Behind
the front, winds turn to be northwesterly. Over north central South
Dakota, winds gusts will increase to as high as 45 to 55 miles per
hour. A Wind Advisory is in effect from this afternoon through
tonight for that area. Over central South Dakota, wind gusts will
reach up to around 40 miles per hour during the evening. The
combination of wind and humidity below 40 percent will lead to
Grassland Fire Danger reaching High to Very High along the Missouri
River this afternoon. Increased humidity will limit fire weather
concerns further east.

High temperatures today will range from the mid to upper 60s over
northeastern South Dakota and western Minnesota to the mid to upper
70s over central and north central South Dakota. Overnight lows
tonight will be in the upper 40s to low 50s.
