Rangeland Fire Danger Statement

.DISCUSSION...

A cold front will track southeast across the region this morning.
Behind the front, winds will increase out of the northwest with
gusts between 30 to 40 mph, with locally higher gusts possible.
Widely scattered rain showers, or sprinkles, are possible this
morning through the afternoon, however, chances are only 15 to 25
percent. Little to no accumulation is expected. Minimum relative
humidity this afternoon will be higher ranging between 30 to 40
percent. Winds will continue out of the northwest Tuesday turning a
bit more northerly Tuesday evening, with afternoon gusts between 20
to potentially 30 mph. Dry conditions are expected over the next
several days.

...HIGH FIRE DANGER...

Unfavorable weather conditions and low moisture content of grasses,
and other dry organic material on the ground, indicate that there
is high potential for a fire to spread.  Outdoor burning should be
restricted to early morning or evening hours when wind speeds are
usually lower and the relative humidity is higher.


The outlook for Tuesday afternoon...The grassland fire danger index
will reach the moderate category.

Marginal weather conditions or lowering moisture content of grasses,
and other dry organic material on the ground, indicate that there is
some potential for a fire to spread.  Any outdoor burning should be
closely monitored.


The outlook for Tuesday afternoon...The grassland fire danger index
will reach the low to moderate category.

...LOW FIRE DANGER...

Favorable weather conditions or a high moisture content of grasses,
and other dry organic material on the ground, indicate that the
probability of a fast moving fire is low.  Outdoor burning under
these conditions can usually be performed with reasonable safety
precautions, but should be monitored.


The outlook for Tuesday afternoon...The grassland fire danger index
will reach the low category.
