.DISCUSSION...

Winds will be out of the north and northwest today ranging between
15 to 20 mph, with gusts of 25 to 30 mph. High pressure will move
over the area this evening with winds diminishing and dry conditions
expected through Saturday. Afternoon relative humidity will drop
between 25 to 35 percent, west of the James River and 30 to 45% east
of the James River. Much lower afternoon relative humidity values
Saturday afternoon ranging between 20 to 30 percent, lowest over
central South Dakota.

...HIGH FIRE DANGER...

Unfavorable weather conditions and low moisture content of grasses,
and other dry organic material on the ground, indicate that there
is high potential for a fire to spread.  Outdoor burning should be
restricted to early morning or evening hours when wind speeds are
usually lower and the relative humidity is higher.


The outlook for Saturday afternoon...The grassland fire danger index
will reach the low to moderate category.
