Well above normal temperatures will continue through at least the next week, along with mainly dry weather. These warming temperatures will quickly melt remaining snow across the region. Grasses across areas that have been snow free for several days will continue to dry out. There are elevated fire weather concerns Monday over central South Dakota, especially over and southwest of Faulk and Spink Counties. Winds over central South Dakota will increase out of the west 15 to 30 mph with gusts of 35 to near 45 mph. Relative humidity values Monday will be in the 30 percent range over central South Dakota. Unfavorable weather conditions and low moisture content of grasses, and other dry organic material on the ground, indicate that there is high potential for a fire to spread.
