.DISCUSSION...

Near critical fire weather conditions will persist through the late
afternoon hours across Jones/Lyman counties, especially far southern
portions of those counties. Humidity around 20 percent will combine
with winds gusting around 25 mph, with improving conditions by
sunset.

Cooler temperatures and higher humidity move in on Saturday behind a
passing cold front. Readings from 40 to 60 percent will be most
common during the afternoon hours, but areas across far northeast
South Dakota into west central Minnesota may get down to around 35
percent. Winds will be from the northwest gusting between 15 and 25
mph for most areas.

Expecting light winds on Sunday with surface high pressure in place.
Lowest humidity around 30-35% is forecast across northeast South
Dakota.

...VERY HIGH FIRE DANGER...

Very poor weather conditions and very low moisture content of
grasses, and other dry organic material on the ground,
indicate that dangerous burning conditions exist.  Fires will
spread rapidly and show erratic behavior. Outdoor burning is
not recommended.


The outlook for Saturday afternoon...The grassland fire danger index
will reach the moderate category.

...HIGH FIRE DANGER...

Unfavorable weather conditions and low moisture content of grasses,
and other dry organic material on the ground, indicate that there
is high potential for a fire to spread.  Outdoor burning should be
restricted to early morning or evening hours when wind speeds are
usually lower and the relative humidity is higher.


The outlook for Saturday afternoon...The grassland fire danger index
will reach the moderate category.
