.DISCUSSION...

Gusty, breezy southerly winds continue today with highest gusts of
30 to 40 mph between the Missouri valley and the Coteau through this
afternoon. Min RH generally remains above 40 percent this afternoon
except for portions of central SD from Pierre south where RH falls
to 30 to 35 percent.

The unseasonably warm conditions continue through the rest of the
work week. Lighter winds are expected for Thursday with southeast
breezes returning Friday. Min RH stays above 30 percent through
Friday.

...MODERATE FIRE DANGER...

Marginal weather conditions or lowering moisture content of grasses,
and other dry organic material on the ground, indicate that there is
some potential for a fire to spread.  Any outdoor burning should be
closely monitored.


The outlook for Thursday afternoon...The grassland fire danger index
will reach the low to moderate category.

...LOW FIRE DANGER...

Favorable weather conditions or a high moisture content of grasses,
and other dry organic material on the ground, indicate that the
probability of a fast moving fire is low.  Outdoor burning under
these conditions can usually be performed with reasonable safety
precautions, but should be monitored.


The outlook for Thursday afternoon...The grassland fire danger index
will reach the low category.
