.DISCUSSION...

An area of low pressure pushing into western South Dakota will
continue to push warm and humid air across the area. Winds will
increase out of the south, with gusts of 25 to 35 mph this afternoon.
The strongest winds will be west of the James River. Relative
humidity values will be in the 40 percent range this afternoon west
of the Missouri River, while 50 to 60 percent east of the Missouri
River.

There is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms late this
afternoon through tonight, mainly over central South Dakota. If
storms develop, a few will be capable of producing hail to 1 inch in
diameter and winds to around 60 mph.

Saturday will be hot and dry with lighter southerly winds, gusting 20
to 25 mph. Relative humidity values will fall into the 30 percent
range near and west of the Missouri River.

...LOW FIRE DANGER...

Favorable weather conditions or a high moisture content of grasses,
and other dry organic material on the ground, indicate that the
probability of a fast moving fire is low.  Outdoor burning under
these conditions can usually be performed with reasonable safety
precautions, but should be monitored.


The outlook for Saturday afternoon...The grassland fire danger index
will reach the low category.
