Rangeland Fire Danger Statement
National Weather Service Aberdeen SD
223 AM CDT Sat May 30 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Low to Moderate Grassland Fire Danger is once again expected today.
Gusty southeasterly winds will be the main concern, with sustained
winds reaching 20 to 30 miles per hour this afternoon, gusting up to
35 miles per hour. Similar wind conditions are in place Sunday,
where southeasterly gusts will once again gust to 25 to 35 miles per
hour. Chances for rain are in place through Sunday, and the moisture
helps to keep minimum afternoon humidity between 40-60% both
Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Thunderstorms will be possible this
weekend, with the best chances being late Saturday evening as well
as Sunday evening.

...MODERATE FIRE DANGER...

Marginal weather conditions or lowering moisture content of grasses,
and other dry organic material on the ground, indicate that there is
some potential for a fire to spread. Any outdoor burning should be
closely monitored.

The outlook for Sunday afternoon...The grassland fire danger index
will reach the low category.

...LOW FIRE DANGER...

Favorable weather conditions or a high moisture content of grasses,
and other dry organic material on the ground, indicate that the
probability of a fast moving fire is low. Outdoor burning under
these conditions can usually be performed with reasonable safety
precautions, but should be monitored.

The outlook for Sunday afternoon...The grassland fire danger index
will reach the low category.
