.DISCUSSION...

Winds will be from the southeast today before turning to be from the
northwest as a cold front moves through tonight. Wind this afternoon
will be up between 15 to 25 mph with gusts of 25 to 40 mph, strongest
over the James River Valley and the Prairie Coteau. Minimum relative
humidity values will be quite different as east of the Missouri
River will be between 50-80 percent and to the west will be between
30-40 percent.

There will be some scattered showers and storms this morning over
central South Dakota that will shift east over northeastern South
Dakota and west central Minnesota through the afternoon. These
showers and storms have a marginal risk (level 1 out of 5) to become
severe with hail up around 1 inch and wind gusts of 60 mph possible.
Additionally, a tornado or two cannot be ruled out in areas east of
the Missouri River in south central South Dakota and east central
South Dakota. As the cold front moves in this evening and overnight,
some more isolated showers and storms could develop over northern
South Dakota. These storms will have 60 mph wind gusts and small
hail as the hazards.
