.DISCUSSION...

Other than fog through mid morning in a few locations, a mostly
sunny sky is expected. High moisture and high temperatures will
result in heat index values reaching near 100 to 104 degrees this
afternoon over portions of central South Dakota. Relative humidity
values will fall into the 25 to 35 percent range west of the Missouri
River, while stay mainly above 50 percent east of the Missouri River.
Behind an exiting ridge of high pressure, winds will increase out of
the east to southeast. The strongest wind gusts will be 20 to 30 mph
over central South Dakota this afternoon.

Another hot and muggy day is expected Thursday, with relative
humidity values of 25 to 45 percent over central South Dakota. The
lowest readings will be near Interstate 90. There is a 40 to 70
percent chance of showers and storms late Thursday afternoon into
Thursday night, associated with a cold front sweeping across the
area that will result in winds quickly switching from a southern to
northerly direction.
