.DISCUSSION...
Rain will persist through the day today, keeping humidity high (with
the lowest in the afternoon being over 70 percent in most locations,
and 55-70 percent over north central South Dakota). Winds come out
of the south this morning at 10 to 15 miles per hour, gusting up to
20 to 25 miles per hour. Highest gusts will be over north central
South Dakota, which pushes the Grassland Fire Danger up to Moderate.
Elsewhere, Grassland Fire Danger remains low. Beginning this
afternoon and evening and spreading from west to east, winds will
gradually turn to become northerly by tonight.
The other threat today comes from the storm potential and the
chances for severe weather this afternoon and evening. In addition
to cloud to ground lightning, storms may also produce wind gusts up
to 60 to 70 miles per hour in the strongest storms.
