...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 AM CDT THURSDAY...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of central South Dakota, including the following
  county, Hand.

* WHEN...Until 400 AM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
  and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams
  continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 1005 PM CDT, emergency management reported heavy rain in
    the warned area due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or
    expected to begin shortly. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain
    fell over a 20 minute span. Localized flooding near Elm Creek
    south of Ree Heights may occur over the next few hours.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.
