...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT SOUTHEASTERN SANDOVAL COUNTY
UNTIL 915 PM MDT...

At 840 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Northern Meadows, or near western Rio Rancho, moving east at 30 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and penny size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible.

Locations impacted include...
  Rio Rancho, Bernalillo, Corrales, Enchanted Hills, Vista Hills,
  Coronado State Monument, Sandia Pueblo, Rio Rancho City Center,
  Mariposa and Rio Rancho Intel Area.

This includes the following highways...
Highway 550 between Mile Markers 1 and 9.
Interstate 25 between Mile Markers 236 and 252.

This includes the following recreation areas...
Jemez Canyon Reservoir, Juan Tabo Picnic Area and Coronado State
Monument.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

Accumulations of small hail on roads can create very slick and
hazardous driving conditions.
