...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 7 PM MDT THIS
EVENING...

.DISCUSSION...
The wind forecast over the next 48 hours is difficult since there
will likely be several wind direction changes. Southwest will be
the predominant wind direction today during the afternoon. Fire
weather conditions will likely remain just below critical levels
most of the day, but may develop for a few hours in the
mid-afternoon. Max wind gusts should be around 30 mph, but there
is a low chance of stronger gusts associated with virga showers
in the late afternoon and evening. Winds will turn around to the
northwest this evening, bringing an increase of moisture. While a
few showers may develop, any rainfall would be very light.
Rain chances increase Saturday when there may be a few heavier
showers. A lightning strike or two cannot be ruled out, but the
likelihood is very low. The wind direction on Saturday will again
be tricky with a shift from the southeast to the west possible
during the afternoon hours.
